
Alonzo Walker, a Bureau of Indian Affairs dispatcher on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana, was named the agency's Telecommunications Officer of the Year. Walker, 58, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, has been lead dispatcher since 2005. He oversees a staff of five who respond to calls on the reservation. "This is for the Northern Cheyenne. I like to work, I like to do these things, but it's all for somebody else," he told The Billings Gazette. Walker, a Vietnam veteran, was presented with his award on November 2. Get the Story:
