Officials in Scott County, Minnesota, are going to wait until the last minute to decide whether to appeal of a land-into-trust acquisition for the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.
The county met Tuesday to consider a lawsuit but put off a decision until next Monday. That's the last possible day an appeal can be filed.
Meanwhile, the Shakopee City Council was meeting Tuesday night to consider an appeal. No word of a decision was reported in the local media.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs has agreed to place 752 acres in trust for the tribe. The land will be used for housing and other purposes.
