Rosebud Sioux man changes plea on slaying of teen

A man from the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota has changed his plead in the stabbing death of a 17-year-old boy.

Melvin Smashed Ice, 38, had pleaded not guilty to the death of Brian Clairmont. The two were involved in a fight on June 10.

Smashed Ice was headed to trial in October but agreed to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter. Federal prosecutors dropped a second-degree murder charge.
