Puyallup police chief accused of sexual relations

The police chief for the Puyallup Tribe of Washington is being accused of having sexual relations with officers' wives.

A lawsuit in tribal court says Chief Joseph Duenas carried on a sexual relationship with the wife of Lieutenant Jeff Berys for three years. Berys, who filed the case, also claims Duenas had a relationship with another officer's wife.

The tribe put Duenas on administrative leave in order to investigate. But he was back on the job after being cleared by a report.

The lawsuit, however, claims that Berys' wife gave conflicting reports about her relationship with Duenas. The lawsuit says the tribe did not investigate the second allegation against Duenas.

KING 5 News went to tribal court to review the case documents but was told by a tribal judge they weren't open to the public.
