Kempthorne visits Duck Valley Reservation after fire

Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne visited the Duck Valley Reservation in Idaho on Thursday to assess the impact of recent fires in the area.

Kempthorne met with leaders of the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes. He promised expedited funding for a greenhouse that will grow plants to restore the fire-ravaged landscape.

"This can and will be a great success story," he said, the Associated Press reported.

The reservation went without electricity for eight days when the Murphy Complex Fire knocked out power lines.

Kempthorne is a former governor of Idaho and a former U.S. Senator for Idaho.
