Alaska Native corporations cite impact on economy

Alaska Native regional corporations have shared $870.2 million in natural resource revenues since 1971, a corporate executive said.

Roberta "Bobbi" Quintavell, the president and chief executive officer of Arctic Slope Regional Corp., said ASRC was responsible for $282 million of the shared revenues. The money is distributed among all Alaska Native regional corporations.

Marie Greene of NANA Regional Corp. said its Red Dog zinc mine has proven beneficial. Sixty-two percent of the royalties NANA received from the venture were shared with other corporations, she said.

Matthew Nicolai, the president of Calista Corp., said his corporation is working on several natural resource projects.
