The Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho signed an agreement to formally end a water rights lawsuit.
The tribe agreed to give up its claims to water in the Snake River basin in exchange for about $83 million in cash, 11,000 acres of land and salmon conservation measures. The entire package is worth $193 million.
The state and individual water users also signed the agreement. It was ratified by Congress in 2005.
