The Field Museum in Chicago unveiled a totem pole carved by two Tlingit artists.
Nathan Jackson of Alaska carved the 14-foot, 1,500-pound pole with his son, Stephen, a sculptor in New York City. It blends traditional styles with modern ones.
The effort began when the museum repatriated a totem pole to the Cape Fox Tlingit Tribe of Alaska. The pole had been removed from a village in 1889.
The tribe donated a log donated to the museum after the original pole was returned.
