Indian Affairs Committee hearing on budget

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee is holding a hearing this Thursday on President Bush's fiscal year 2008 budget.

The hearing takes place at 9:30am in Room 485 of the Russell Senate Office Building. A witness list hasn't been released.

Bush's budget provides nearly level funding for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and for the Indian Health Service. Urban Indian clinics, Johnson O'Malley education grants, Indian housing, tribal courts and tribal jails were cut in different areas of the budget.
