Five-year-old Dawson Carriere was buried on Monday after being killed by a pack of dogs on the Cumberland House First Nation in northern Saskatchewan.
Dawson was attacked last Thursday morning. His great-grandfather said he was probably on his way to school.
Dawson's mother found him on the side of the road later that morning. He was flown to a hospital in Saskatoon but died as a result of his bite wounds and possible hypothermia.
Tribal members killed several stray dogs believed to have been responsible for the attack. Just two months ago, a five-year-old boy from the Tallcree First Nation in northern Alberta was killed by a pack of dogs.
