Most voters against Guidiville Band casino in advisory referendum
Wednesday, November 3, 2010
Voters in Richmond, California, don't want a casino in their city, according to unofficial results from an advisory referendum.
The Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians wants to build the $1.2 billion Point Molate
Resort at Point
Molate Naval Fuel Depot. But 57.5 percent of voters are against the project.
The referendum isn't binding. But it could sway city council members, who have yet to finalize a deal with the tribe.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs has
released a draft
environmental impact statement and environmental impact report on the
project.
