The Maryland Video Lottery Facility Location Commission awarded a license to MGM Resorts International to build a $925 million gaming facility right outside of Washington, D.C.

The facility will be located at National Harbor, a hotel, convention and entertainment venue that's less than 10 miles rom the U.S. Capitol.

Two other bidders sought the license but MGM won out after a series of public hearings. The company is also in the final stages of a commercial casino proposal in Massachusetts.
