It looked like the Menominee Nation was about to lose its bid for an off-reservation casino in Wisconsin until Hard Rock International stepped in. Hard Rock is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The addition of the company helped convince Gov. Scott Walker (R) to take a longer look at the $808 million casino in Kenosha. "When Hard Rock came in, it created a level of excitement that was appealing," a Republican source with knowledge of the issue told The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Now, they were no longer just talking about gambling. Now, it's about entertainment." The Bureau of Indian Affairs approved the casino under the two-part determination provisions of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The law gives Walker veto authority. Get the Story:
