The Bureau of Indian Affairs will hold two public hearings to discuss the casino proposed by the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts. In a notice that's being published in the Federal Register tomorrow, the BIA announces the availability of a draft environmental impact statement for the tribe's land-into-trust application. The application covers a 151-acre site for the $500 million First Light Resort and Casino plus a 170-acre site at the tribe's headquarters. To discuss the EIS, the BIA will hold a hearing on December 2 in Mashpee, the tribe's headquarters, and another one on December 3 in Taunton. That's where the casino would be located.
