The Little River Band of Ottawa
Indians has a lot of work ahead on its plan for an off-reservation casino.
The tribe wants to build a $100 million resort on 233 acres in Fruitport Township. The land-into-trust process will take around 18 months to two years, at a minimum.
Then there's the Class III gaming compact. A second casino would require an amendment to the agreement.
Despite the hurdles, local officials are welcoming the chance to host the casino.
They hope additional work will convince
Gov. Rick Snyder (R) to support the project.
