The Eastern Band of Cherokee
Indians reached an agreement with Caesars Entertainment to manage a second gaming facility on the reservation.
The tribe plans to build a 60,000 square-foot casino with slot machines, table games and a 300-room hotel. The $110 million facility will be located about an hour from the existing Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort, which is managed by Caesars.
"This agreement represents the continuation of an already successful partnership between the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and Caesars Entertainment Corporation,” Chief Michell Hicks said in a press release. “Caesars is known for its world-class facilities and top-notch management style. We are proud to be associated with such a highly regarded partner in the world of gaming.”
The tribe plans to break ground on the new facility next Tuesday.
A temporary structure is expected within six months.
