Supporters of an off-reservation casino for the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians have formed a campaign committee in California.

The committee, known as “Voters for Central Valley Jobs and the Environment, a coalition of tribes, labor organizations, business and environmental groups, North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians and Station Casino LLC," opposes a referendum that seeks to put the tribe's Class III gaming compact to a statewide vote.

Stand Up for California, which bills itself as a watchdog group, is collecting signatures to put the issue on the June 2014 ballot.

The North Fork Rancheria has won state and federal approval to open the off-reservation casino. The compact, however, has not been approved by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
