Casino opponents are trying to put the Massachusetts Expanded Gaming Act on the ballot in 2014.
Repealing H.3702 poses problems for several tribes. The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe wouldn't be able to engage in Class III gaming because it wouldn't be legal in the state.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe, both from Connecticut, wouldn't be able to pursue commercial casinos either. Hard Rock International, which is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, is also pursuing a commercial facility in the state.
