The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians remains confident that its casino site in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, will be placed in trust.

The land-into-trust application the Keetoowah Cherokee Casino is being litigated by the Cherokee Nation. The UKBs, however, aren't worried.

“We trust the federal court, upon hearing all of the evidence, will decline to issue an injunction and permit the Department of Interior provisionally to take the land into trust,” Jim McMillin, an attorney for the UKB, told The Tahlequah Daily Press.

McMillin said the UKBs won't be commenting on an offer from the Cherokee Nation to move the casino to a new location on Cherokee trust land or to place the Tahlequah site in trust for the Cherokees instead.
