The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake
Superior Chippewa Indians will host a public meeting on Monday to discuss its off-reservation casino in Shullsburg, Wisconsin.
The tribe plans to build a $50 million casino on a 20-acre site in the city. A land-into-trust application has been submitted to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
The Bush administration rejected the casino in January 2008 under a guidance memo that said Shullsburg was too far
from the reservation to benefit tribal members. The Obama administration
rescinded the memo.
Monday's meeting takes place at 6pm at the Shullsburg High School gymnasium.
