Five men await trial in federal court on charges that they ran a casino that was not authorized by the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York.

The Kanienkehaka Longhouse’s Men’s Council operated the Three Feathers Casino, a Class II facility, for a little over a year before it was shut down. The five defendants say they were only trying to improve economic conditions on the reservation.

“I am a prisoner of war for bringing economics to my people,” Rarahkwisere, whose English name is Thomas Square, told Aboriginal People's Television Network.

Rarahkwisere and the other four have been charged with conducting an illegal gambling business and unlawfully possessing gambling devices.
