New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli released a report on Monday that said two cities face financial problems due to withheld Seneca Nation gaming revenues.
Niagara Falls has lost out on $60 million and Salamanca has lost out on $3 million a year, the report said. Both cities also have been impacted by population loss and decreased property values.
“Niagara Falls and Salamanca face more severe stresses than most other cities in the state, and the loss of casino revenue has exacerbated their problems,” DiNapoli said in a press release.
The tribe has withheld $460 million from the state due to a dispute over exclusivity in the Class III gaming compact.
