Lynnette Grey Bull, Hunkpapa Lakota and Northern Arapaho, fell short in her bid to represent Wyoming’s al-large Congressional district.
Grey Bull, a Democrat, secured about 25 percent of the vote, according to results posted by NBC News. She conceded to Liz Cheney, the Republican incumbent, County10 reported.
“I congratulate Representative Cheney on winning another term, and hope that she will represent all the people of Wyoming faithfully,” Grey Bull said in a statement posted by the outlet.
Grey Bull had drawn the support of Democrats nationwide, including Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico). “Thank you for your commitment to furthering our voice,” the lawmaker from New Mexico wrote on social media on November 3, 2020.

“I congratulate Representative Cheney on winning another term, and hope that she will represent all the people of Wyoming faithfully.
I offer my sincere thanks to all who supported me and my campaign; from voters to donors to volunteers to those who took the time to write messages of support, you have honored me and I want to take this opportunity to honor you as well. I am humbled by and grateful for each of you, and I promise to continue working tirelessly to make our state a better place for all of us.
In particular, I thank my tribes, the Northern Arapaho, Eastern Shoshone of the Wind River Reservation, and all of Indian Country, for the outpouring of support. I am proud to be the first Indigenous person nominated for federal office in Wyoming and look forward to continuing to work hard for my community and my fellow Wyomingites.”
