The Cowlitz Tribe is hiring more than 1,000 people to work at its new casino in Washington, The Columbian reports.
The ilani Casino Resort will be participating in a job fair in Portland, Oregon, on Wednesday. Some jobs are ready to be filled while others will be considered as the April 2017 opening of the facility approaches, the paper said.
Additionally, the 15 restaurants, bars and retailers at the facility will start hiring on their own, the paper reports.
The tribe broke ground on the casino in February after overcoming numerous regulatory, legal and political hurdles. A ruling from a federal appeals court in July solidified the land-into-trust application for the site.
Some opponents are still hoping to stop the project and have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the decision. The case is Citizens
Against Reservation Shopping v. Jewell.
