The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas is back in the gaming business and so are some of its former employees.
The tribe hired 200 people for the new Naskila Entertainment, a Class II facility on the reservation. Some of them used to work at a casino that was shut down in July 2002 due to litigation from the state, KBTV reported.
"We saw the impact that not only the tribe felt but the people who worked for us, losing their jobs and to bring some of those people back, we're actually employing some of those who worked for us the first time," spokesperson Carlos Bullock told KBTV.
Bullock said Naskila means "dogwood" in the Alabama language.
