The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas is holding a job far this week for its highly-anticipated gaming facility.
Gaming, security, food service and other positions are available at the Naskila
Entertainment, according to a flyer posted on the tribe's Facebook page.
Tribal member get first dibs at interviews on Tuesday and the general public can join on Wednesday.
The tribe hasn't announced an official opening date for the casino but it's expected in the coming weeks. It will mark the return of gaming to the reservation since state authorities forced the closure of a highly-successful casino in 2002.
Naksila will only offer Class II games under an ordinance approved by the National Indian Gaming Commission. The state of Texas has long refused to negotiate a Class II deal with the tribe.
State authorities haven't officially commented on the project. But they are contesting the NIGC's approval of a similar Class II ordinance for the Tigua Tribe.
Both tribes are subject to federal laws that contain gaming-prohibitive language. The Obama administration, however, has determined that the Indian
Gaming Regulatory Act "impliedly repealed" provisions in both the Alabama-Coushatta
Restoration Act and the the Ysleta
del Sur Pueblo Restoration Act.
Certain forms of gaming are legal in Texas but the two tribes have repeatedly been targeted for trying to build economies on their reservations.
