The White Earth Nation of
Minnesota broke ground on a second gaming facility on Thursday.
The Shooting Star Casino will be located on Clearwater County Highway 27 between Bagley and Ebro. The site is near the northeastern border of the reservation.
"The area that came back as offering new clientele and keeping within the boundaries of the reservation was along County Highway 27," general manager Bill Marsh told The Bemidji Pioneer. "The study we received said it would be a worthwhile venture."
The size and cost of the facility haven't been disclosed. It's expected to open in June 2016, the Pioneer reported.
The first Shooting Star Casino is located in Mahnomen, near the western edge of the reservation. The tribe is planning a third facility in Star Lake, on trust land outside of the main reservation boundaries.
