Connecticut's two federally-recognized tribes saw declines in their slot machine revenues for the month of August 2015.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal
Nation saw revenue of $42.5 million in slot revenue at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
That was 9.5 percent lower than the $47 million seen in August 2015.
Meanwhile, the Mohegan Tribe saw nearly $52 million in slot revenue at the Mohegan Sun. That was 8.1 percent lower than the $56.2 million a year earlier.
Normally, the tribes see an increase in business during the Labor Day weekend,
The New London Day reported. Last year, most of the holiday fell during August, the paper said.
Otherwise, both tribes have seen slot revenues stabilize as they seek to address competition from neighboring Massachusetts. The tribes are seeking to open a third facility in a location near the state border.
MGM Resorts International
plans to open an $800 million casino in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts, just a few miles from the state line.
