The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut saw a dramatic increase in profits at its gaming enterprise.
For the quarter that ended June 30, the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority saw $28.1 million in profits. That's double the amount from the same period last year
“Our third quarter operating results speak for themselves and reflect a sustained and tremendous effort by all of our
employees,” Robert J. Soper, a tribal member who serves as president of the authority, said in a press release.
The increase was attributed to cost-cutting measures and a 1.9 percent increase in gross slot machine revenues. The tribe took in $203.7 million in slots during the last quarter.
Gaming revenues, overall, remained flat at $284.7 million compared to last year. Table game revenues fell 3.2 percent and non-gaming revenues fell 2.1 percent.
The tribe operates the Mohegan Sun on its reservation in
Connecticut and Mohegan Sun
Pocono, a commercial facility in Pennsylvania.
