What seemed like a mere proposal yesterday is much closer to reality -- the Chemehuevi Tribe in
California plans to break ground on a new casino soon, Chairman Charles Wood said.
Wood said the casino has been in the works for about four years. “Basically we are one signature away from breaking ground,” the chairman told The Havasu News-Herald
The casino, to be located along the Colorado River, will include a 48-room hotel -- a first on the reservation. Wood said tribal members and guests have been asking for places to stay.
The tribe already operates the Havasu Landing Resort and
Casino.
