Eastern Cherokees to break ground on $110M gaming facility

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in North Carolina will be breaking ground on a $110 million gaming facility today.

The tribe plans to build a 60,000 square-foot casino with slot machines, table games and a 300-room hotel. It will be the second gaming facility on the reservation.

A temporary structure is expected within six months. A permanent casino could open in 18 months.
