BIA asked Menominee Nation for more data on casino project

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

The Bureau of Indian Affairs asked the Menominee Nation for more information about its off-reservation casino, Chairman Craig Corn said.

Corn originally predicted a final decision on the casino by the end of March. But he told The Kenosha News that the BIA asked for "updated financial models from the tribe."

“I still feel positive,” Corn told the paper. “The application is out there (in Washington). I think it’s prime for a decision."

The BIA issued the final environmental impact statement for the casino in June 2012. That was before Assistant Secretary Kevin Washburn was confirmed to head the BIA.
