The Kialegee Tribal Town of Oklahoma is asking the National Indian Gaming Commission to reconsider the legal status of its casino site.
The NIGC issued an Indian lands determination that said the tribe lacked jurisdiction over the site. That's a key requirement of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. But the Kialegees says they exercise jurisdiction because the owners of the allotment are tribal members. Marcella Giles and her sister, Wynema Capps, have previously been identified as members of the Muscogee Nation. "Kialegees are members of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation so for them to be citizens...that's their call and I respect that," Muscogee Chief George Tiger told News on 6. Get the Story:
