The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians has won another round of litigation in its gaming dispute with Duluth, Minnesota.
The tribe filed a land-into-trust application with the Bureau of Indian Affairs for a property next to the Fond-du-Luth Casino. The city said the move violated a gaming agreement between the two parties. A judge, however, dismissed the lawsuit and said it was premature. The BIA has yet to make a decision on the application. “This is the fourth occasion in the past several months where the band has prevailed,” Chairwoman Karen Diver told The Duluth News.
