Governor ready to negotiate with Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe

Massacushetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) said he is ready to negotiate a Class III gaming compact with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.
The tribe announced plans to build a casino in Taunton. Patrick said negotiations will begin once a referendum schedules a vote on the project.

the state's gaming law, requires the tribe and the state to negotiate a compact by July 31.
