The city council in Duluth, Minnesota, has authorized spending $1.06 million in its lawsuit against the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.
The city says it's owed $12 million under a 1994 agreement that calls for the tribe to share 19 percent of gross revenues from the Fond-du-Luth Casino. One council member said he's willing to authorize $6 million for the case. The National Indian Gaming Commission issued a notice of violation to the tribe. The agency said the agreement violates the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The parties are due in court tomorrow. Get the Story:
