The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians won't be pursuing an off-reservation casino in Romulus, Michigan.
Tribal members voted 2,986 to 1,864 against the project. "The board respects tribal membership’s right to vote and the referendum process,” Chairman Joe McCo said in response to the election, The Soo Evening News reported. The tribe used to operate Greektown, a commercial casino in Detroit. Romulus is about 20 miles from Detroit. Get the Story:
