Seneca Nation sees more support for sharing gaming revenues

The Seneca Nation of New York is seeing more support for its proposal to share gaming revenues with local communities.

The Class III gaming compact requires the tribe to share 25 percent of slot machine revenues with the state. The tribe would rather make the payments to local governments, an idea supported by the city council in Salamanca.

The tribe is withholding about $214 million in revenues because it says the state has allowed an expansion non-Indian gaming. Gov. David Paterson (D) has said he won't renegotiate the compact.
