Mashpee Wampanoag finances under scrutiny

Leaders of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts are coming under scrutiny for what same say are lavish spending habits.

Former chairman Glenn Marshall made $16,650 in federal campaign contributions and $5,500 in state contributions over a three year period. His wife and daughter donated a total of $5,000 to federal and state campaigns.

Marshall's owns two homes, including a $314,000 home he purchased in 2005. He reported his salary to be $43,913 year at the time.

Current chairman Shawn Hendricks, who previously served as vice chairman, made $14,400 in federal contributions and $3,100 in state contributions. His wife donated $1,000. His salary at the time was $43,913 and recently took put in a $114,000 addition to his home.

Secretary Desiré Hendricks Moreno donated over $14,000 to state and federal politicians. She recently settled a state income tax lien. It was not clear whether she receives a tribal salary.
