Oklahoma<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>July 9, 2020<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Supreme Court reaffirmed today that when the United States makes promises, the courts will keep those promises.\u00a0 Congress persuaded the Creek Nation to walk the Trail of Tears with promises of a reservation\u2014and the Court today correctly recognized that that this reservation endures.\u00a0 We\u2014along with our co-counsel Patti Palmer Ghezzi and the Federal Public Defender of the Western District of Oklahoma\u2014are immensely pleased for Jimcy McGirt and Patrick Murphy, whom Oklahoma unlawfully prosecuted for alleged crimes within the Creek reservation,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/jenner.com\/people\/IanGershengorn\">Ian Heath Gershengorn<\/a>, Chair of Jenner &amp; Block\u2019s Appellate and Supreme Court Practice, who <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/z\/supremecourt\/?p=61\">argued the case on May 11, 2020<\/a>.\u00a0 He was assisted by Jenner &amp; Block Partner Zachary C.
