\"COVID-19<\/p>\n

The Indian Health Service has updated its\u00a0coronavirus data<\/a>, showing results as of November 30, 2020.<\/p>\n

According to the data, 106,393 tests have returned positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.\u00a0That represents an increase of 2.05 percent from the\u00a0104,256 cases previously reported<\/a> by the IHS.<\/p>\n

Altogether, 1,382,730 coronavirus tests have been administered within the IHS through November 30, the data shows. That marks an increase of 0.95 percent from the day prior.<\/p>\n

Since mid-October, the\u00a0IHS has been providing additional information about the spread of the coronavirus within the system. The\u00a0cumulative percent positive<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0column shows the historical COVID-19 infection rate, meaning the number of tests that have returned positive since the onset of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Based on the\u00a0cumulative percent positive<\/strong><\/em>, the highest rates have been seen in the\u00a0Navajo Area<\/a>\u00a0(14.3 percent), the\u00a0Phoenix Area<\/a>\u00a0(12.9 percent), the\u00a0Oklahoma City Area<\/a>\u00a0(10.2 percent), the\u00a0Great Plains Area<\/a>\u00a0(10.1 percent) and the\u00a0Albuquerque Area<\/a>\u00a0(10 percent). The first two regions include the state of Arizona, indicating a disproportionate toll of COVID-19 in the state.<\/p>\n

The\u00a07-day rolling average positivity\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>column offers a more contemporary look at the impact of the coronavirus. The data shows where COVID-19 cases have been increasing recently.<\/p>\n

Based on the\u00a07-day rolling average positivity<\/strong><\/em>, five regions have seen dramatic increases in COVID-19 cases. They are:\u00a0the\u00a0Albuquerque Area<\/a>\u00a0(26.4 percent), the\u00a0Great Plains Area<\/a>\u00a0(24.3 percent),\u00a0the\u00a0Billings Area<\/a>\u00a0(21.7 percent), the Bemidji Area<\/a> (18.6 percent) and the\u00a0Oklahoma City Area<\/a>\u00a0(18.4 percent).<\/p>\n

Overall, 8.3 percent of IHS tests have been positive since the onset of the pandemic, the data shows. The 7-day average has grown higher over the last couple of months and now stands at 14.5 percent.<\/p>\n
