\"COVID-19<\/p>\n

The Indian Health Service has updated its\u00a0coronavirus data<\/a>, showing results as of November 27, 2020.<\/p>\n

According to the data, 102,957 tests have returned positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That represents an increase of 0.56 percent from the 102,381 cases previously reported<\/a> by the IHS.<\/p>\n

Altogether, 1,361,247 coronavirus tests have been administered within the IHS through November 27, the data shows. That marks an increase of 0.22 percent from the day prior.<\/p>\n

Since mid-October, the\u00a0IHS has been providing additional information about the spread of the coronavirus within the system. The\u00a0cumulative percent positive<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0column shows the historical COVID-19 infection rate, meaning the number of tests that have returned positive since the onset of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Based on the\u00a0cumulative percent positive<\/strong><\/em>, the highest rates have been seen in the\u00a0Navajo Area<\/a>\u00a0(14.1 percent), the\u00a0Phoenix Area<\/a>\u00a0(12.9 percent), the\u00a0Oklahoma City Area<\/a>\u00a0(10 percent) the\u00a0Great Plains Area<\/a> (9.9 percent) and the\u00a0Albuquerque Area<\/a>\u00a0(9.8 percent). The first two regions include the state of Arizona, indicating a disproportionate toll of COVID-19 in the state.<\/p>\n

The\u00a07-day rolling average positivity\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>column offers a more contemporary look at the impact of the coronavirus. The data shows where COVID-19 cases have been increasing recently.<\/p>\n

Based on the\u00a07-day rolling average positivity<\/strong><\/em>, four regions have seen dramatic increases in COVID-19 cases. They are: the\u00a0Albuquerque Area<\/a>\u00a0(22.4 percent),\u00a0the\u00a0Great Plains Area<\/a>\u00a0(20.6 percent), the\u00a0Billings Area<\/a>\u00a0(20.2 percent) and the\u00a0Oklahoma City Area<\/a>\u00a0(18.6 percent).<\/p>\n

Overall, 8.2 percent of IHS tests have been positive since the onset of the pandemic, the data shows. The 7-day average has grown higher over the last few weeks and now stands at 13.6 percent.<\/p>\n
