{"id":9176,"date":"2020-10-29T09:06:31","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T13:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indianz.com\/covid19\/?p=9176"},"modified":"2020-10-29T09:08:27","modified_gmt":"2020-10-29T13:08:27","slug":"gun-lake-tribe-michigan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indianz.com\/covid19\/2020\/10\/29\/gun-lake-tribe-michigan\/","title":{"rendered":"Gun Lake Tribe (Michigan)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/p>\n<p>October 29, 2020<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Gun Lake Tribe Donates $500,000 of CARES Act Money to\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Local Schools and Allegan County\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4><strong><em>Money will help keep schools safe, and fund local vaccination effort\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Bradley, Michigan \u2013 Today, the Gun Lake Tribe announced donations that total $500,000 to several local schools and the Allegan County government to assist in mitigating the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0 The donations come from the Tribe\u2019s Coronavirus Relief Fund pursuant to the federal CARES Act.\u00a0 The donations will fund school safety mitigation efforts, and a county mobile vaccination unit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are happy to provide our friends and neighbors with additional funding during these very difficult times,\u201d said Bob Peters, Chairman.\u00a0 \u201cThe mobile vaccination unit will play an important role in getting our community back to normal, but in the meantime helping to keep our local schoolteachers and students safe is the next best thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Tribal Council recently decided to forego $500,000 of CARES Act money to instead distribute $25,000 each to eleven local school districts.\u00a0 Allegan County will receive $225,000 to purchase a mobile vaccination unit that will provide area residents with a COVID-19 vaccine once one is available to the general public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe donation of the Mobile Clinic serves as another example of the support the Gun Lake Tribe provides for the overall Allegan County community.\u00a0 The Mobile Clinic will be an instrumental tool to help bring various public health services closer to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic and long after,\u201d Robert J.
