{"id":6894,"date":"2020-07-03T10:07:12","date_gmt":"2020-07-03T14:07:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indianz.com\/covid19\/?p=6894"},"modified":"2020-07-03T10:44:11","modified_gmt":"2020-07-03T14:44:11","slug":"kiowa-tribe-executive-branch-oklahoma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indianz.com\/covid19\/2020\/07\/03\/kiowa-tribe-executive-branch-oklahoma\/","title":{"rendered":"Kiowa Tribe Executive Branch (Oklahoma)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Kiowa Tribe\u00a0<\/b><b>Executive Branch<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For Immediate Release<\/p>\n<p>July 2, 2020<\/p>\n<h6>Kiowa Tribe Ushers In New Era Of Fiscal Responsibility<\/h6>\n<p>The Tribe was notified by the Bureau of Indian Affairs on Monday, June 30, 2020, that effective immediately the agency was removing the <a href=\"https:\/\/kiowatribe.org\">Kiowa Tribe<\/a> from Level II sanctions which had been imposed against the Tribe since 2016.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is much-welcomed news and will provide financial relief for the Tribe.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We have waited a long time to work through these sanctions and we have finally seen the light of day.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Our people will benefit tremendously now that the Tribe resumes full control of program funds and contract support payments.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>This is a great day for the Kiowa People,\u201d states Chairman Matthew Komalty.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s important announcement is a follow up to the Chairman\u2019s letter released on June 22, 2020, which outlined the lack of fiscal responsibility that was prevalent at the Tribe for so many years and the root cause of the funding problems that its tribal citizens had to endure.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cNot only are we caught up with our independent annual audits, but we now can start planning strategically for the next phase of the tribe\u2019s future growth and success.
