{"id":6215,"date":"2020-06-09T08:22:50","date_gmt":"2020-06-09T12:22:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indianz.com\/covid19\/?p=6215"},"modified":"2020-06-09T08:27:15","modified_gmt":"2020-06-09T12:27:15","slug":"firstnet-att-communications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indianz.com\/covid19\/2020\/06\/09\/firstnet-att-communications\/","title":{"rendered":"FirstNet (AT&#038;T Communications)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/p>\n<p><b>FirstNet Deploys Mobile Cell Sites Supporting Navajo Nation COVID-19 Response<\/b><\/p>\n<p><em>Two SatCOLTs On Site to Support FEMA\u2019s Response to the Hard-Hit Region<\/em><\/p>\n<p>PHOENIX, May 27, 2020 \u2014 First responders on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic in the hard-hit and vast territory of the Navajo Nation are receiving a boost in wireless connectivity with FirstNet\u2019s deployment of two Satellite Cell on Light Trucks (SatCOLTs) to the region.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstnet.com\">FirstNet<\/a>, built with AT&amp;T, is a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority. The network is designed to help first responders across the country connect to the critical information they need \u2013 when they need it \u2013 so they can keep themselves and the communities they serve safe.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As FEMA expands its COVID-19 response operation in coordination with tribal first responders for the Navajo Nation, FirstNet worked with the Navajo Nation to deploy two SatCOLTs. The vehicles work as mobile cell sites linking to FirstNet via satellite without relying on commercial power. The mobile sites provide first responders with similar connectivity as a cell tower.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>With the Navajo Nation\u2019s assistance, FirstNet positioned one SatCOLT in Window Rock, Ariz., at the Navajo Nation Administration Building. The other is stationed in New Mexico at the Navajo Nation Department of Transportation Tse Bonito Office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNavajo Nation has been working with FirstNet to make sure the needs of tribal first responders and health command workers serving Navajo Nation are met,\u201d said Chris Becenti, Executive Director, Navajo Nation Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Office. \u201cWe look forward to the future deployment of FirstNet on the Navajo Nation,\u201d referencing the buildout of public safety\u2019s Band 14 spectrum on Navajo Nation. \u201cWe appreciate that FirstNet answered our call when we requested the deployable asset to provide critical connectivity for federal and tribal officials responding to the COVID-19 crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAT&amp;T believes we have a civic duty to do our part during these challenging times,\u201d said Toni M.
