Photo courtesy NAFOA<\/p><\/div>\n<h1>5 Things You Need to Know this Week<\/h1>\n<p><strong>COVID-19 updates and remote opportunities in the new normal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"null\">1. <em>POLICY:<\/em><\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"null\">CONGRESS PASSES LEGISLATION THAT EASES PPP RULES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES<\/h2>\n<p>On the evening of&nbsp;June 3, 2020, Congress passed&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/5fdaa92d88375a474b912b0f3\/files\/9a6d39d8-cf97-4143-814e-61e959ded2d8\/20200603_PPP_Loan_Revision_HR_7010BILLS_116hr7010eh.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act of 2020<\/a>. Cases also continue to increase in all IHS Areas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncai.org\/policy-research-center\/research-data\/prc-publications\/NCAI_COVID19_Data_Situation_Summary_FINAL_6_3_2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read the Full&nbsp;<strong>COVID-19 Situation Summary from NCAI.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"null\">3. <em>FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS:<\/em><br \/>\nINTERN REMOTELY WITH NAFOA&#8217;S EDUCATION AND POLICY TEAMS<\/h2>\n<p>NAFOA is seeking two interns\u2014a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nafoa.org\/jobs\/youth-outreach-coordinator-intern-remote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">youth outreach coordinator intern<\/a> to assist in expanding outreach to Native American youth and young professionals, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/nafoa.org\/jobs\/policy-intern-remote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">policy intern<\/a> to help with NAFOA&#8217;s advocacy work. Both internships will be remote and&nbsp;part-time for a duration of 6-weeks. Interns will be expected to commit up to 20 hours per week. Additionally, interns will receive a $1,000.00 stipend.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must be at least a rising Junior in college and authorized to work in the US.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"null\">4. <em>&nbsp;FOR TRIBES:<\/em><br \/>\nBECOME A NAFOA MEMBER TRIBE<\/h2>\n<p>NAFOA serves tribal governments through advocacy; leadership development; initiatives to educate our youth; and by bringing together tribal leadership, tribal professionals, and industry partners needed for economic success. The anticipated start date would be August 1, 2020.&nbsp;<strong>Proposals will be received until 3:30 p.m. EDT on Friday, June 19, 2020<\/strong>.
