MARIE, Mich. \u2014 Kewadin Casinos has made the decision to extend the temporary closure of all five casino properties and attached hotels in Michigan\u2019s Upper Peninsula until June 12.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Kewadin Casinos Interim CEO Allen Kerridge said, \u201cAlthough we understand that our team members and guests are anticipating our opening, Kewadin has always looked to put the wellness and security of our communities, guests, elders and youth as a priority, which is why we have extended our official opening date to June 12. We may not be the first casino to open, but we will be clean and safe.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, owner and operator of Kewadin Casinos, recently announced it would cover the health, life and long-term disability premiums for all team members. Team members will also continue to be paid during the extended closure. As one of the largest employers in the EUP, Kewadin Casinos currently employees approximately 900 full- and part-time team members.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>As Kewadin moves forward, it plan to adjust services upon reopening. This is being done to better prepare each property for appropriate social distancing measures, monitoring and adhering to appropriate guest capacity limits and the supply and distribution of PPE to all team members and guests.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Projects planned at each property prior to the closure, are coming to closure and the extended closure allows additional projects, such as the possibility of different dining options to begin.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>For more information about the Sault Ste.
