The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data<\/a>, showing results as of 11:59 pm Eastern on May 16, 2020.<\/p>\n

According to the data, 74,404 tests have been administered within the IHS. Of those, 7,053 have returned positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That represents a 1.2 percent increase from the 6,969 cases previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Overall, testing grew by just 0.4 percent between May 15 and May 16, the data shows. The low rates are indicative of a results that come in during weekends.<\/p>\n

For instance, the number of COVID-19 positive cases grew 3.5 percent between May 14 and May 15. Testing similarly grew by nearly 3.3 percent.<\/p>\n

The data, however, is incomplete. While 100 percent of facilities run directly by the IHS are reporting data, only 33 percent<\/span> of tribally managed facilities and 44<\/span> percent<\/span> of urban Indian organizations are doing the same.<\/p>\n
