Kristi Noem (R) of South Dakota regarding coronavirus checkpoints on the reservation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe appreciate your concern about preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation and our taking action for the good of all people on the reservation,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/covid19\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/crst0513020.pdf\">Frazier writes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PDF: <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/covid19\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/crst0513020.pdf\">Chairman Frazier to Governor Noem<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;We will take your three-part plan into consideration,&#8221; Frazier adds in reference to a letter Noem sent to the tribe on May 12.<\/p>\n<p>Noem on May 8 called on Frazier to remove all checkpoints on the reservation within 48 hours. She threatened legal action if the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe did not comply. She issued the same directive to the Oglala Sioux Tribe.<\/p>\n<p>Amid a huge public outcry in support of both tribes, Noem did not outwardly take any action.
