Photo by Indianz.Com (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The next hearing in the CARES Act lawsuit takes place at 3pm Eastern on April 24, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Indian Country can listen in by dialing&nbsp;(877) 848-7030 and entering the access code 3218747.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianz.com\/m.asp?url=https:\/\/www.dcd.uscourts.gov\/\">United States District Court for the District of Columbia<\/a>&nbsp;recommends dialing in ahead of time. The phone lines have enough capacity for about 1,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>At stake is the $8 billion coronavirus relief fund promised to tribal governments. A federal judge will decide whether for-profit Alaska Native corporations can receive a share of the funds, as the Trump administration has determined.<\/p>\n<p>The case is <em>Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation v. Mnuchin<\/em>. The plaintiffs are 11 tribes that oppose the inclusion of the Native corporations in the fund:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation (Washington)<br \/>\n\u2022 Tulalip Tribes (Washington)<br \/>\n\u2022 Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians (Maine)<br \/>\n\u2022 Akiak Native Community (Alaska)<br \/>\n\u2022 Asa\u2019carsarmiut Tribe (Alaska)<br \/>\n\u2022 Aleut Community of St. Paul Island (Alaska)<br \/>\n\u2022 Navajo Nation (Arizona, New Mexico, Utah)<br \/>\n\u2022 Quinault Nation (Washington)<br \/>\n\u2022 Pueblo of Picuris (New Mexico)<br \/>\n\u2022 Elk Valley Rancheria (California)<br \/>\n\u2022 San Carlos Apache Tribe (Arizona)<\/p>\n<p>A second CARES Act lawsuit has been filed by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Oglala Sioux Tribe and the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Their case, &nbsp;<em>Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe v.
